A place dominated by two forces, God and man. If the sea is the ever changing scape of constant motion, the Lord Jagannath temple is a static but no less dominant force. A large part of Puri’s population is, one way or the other, connected with the temple. It is one of the four Hindu ‘dhams’ (pilgrimage spots). A large number also go for adventure and holiday. Puri has many hotels and hundreds of holiday homes owned by government organisations and private businesses.
